Years ago, Marvin Lewis was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals for 16 seasons back when they were struggling to gain respect.

After leaving them following the 2018 campaign, he spent a year as a TV analyst, then he spent time as a special advisor and a co-defensive coordinator at Arizona State University.

Now, Lewis will be back in the NFL as an assistant head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, per ProFootballTalk.

At Arizona State, Lewis served alongside Antonio Pierce, and now the two will be reunited, as Pierce was recently named the Raiders’ permanent head coach.

Pierce had been their interim head coach for the last nine games of this season after they fired Josh McDaniels.

There is a glimmer of hope for the immediate future in Las Vegas, as players immediately responded to and put their trust in Pierce, and more than one of them publicly lobbied for Pierce to remain as their head coach once the season ended.

It was another frustrating season for the Raiders, as they won only eight games despite the presence of star wide receiver Davante Adams and Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby.

They benched veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo midway through the schedule and replaced him with rookie Aidan O’Connell, and thus their big question moving forward is the QB position.

There have been some rumors they may go after Russell Wilson if he’s released by the Denver Broncos, and there are even some whispers they may try to trade up in April’s draft in order to take a top quarterback.
