Oatly and Carvel partner to bring dairy-free flavors to stores nationwide

Starting this week, Swedish oat-milk based company Oatly will introduce its products at Carvel locations in 18 states across the country. Both parties aiming to give consumers a dairy-free way to enjoy the classic Carvel experience.

“With ice cream traditionally being reliant on cow’s dairy, we’re honored to collaborate with Carvel and present the first oatmilk-based, non-dairy frozen desserts available in Carvel shoppes,” said Drew Martin, executive vice president of commercial sales for Oatly North America, in the statement.

The new Oatly menu items include strawberry soft serve, cookies and cream, chocolate peanut butter, flying saucer sandwiches and frozen dessert cakes.

Since its IPO in 2021, Oatly has struggled to maintain its momentum as seen through slumping sales, but the company saw a 7% boost in stock price after the announcement. And just this month, the company announced new product launches for the first time in five years to appeal to a wider net of consumers.

“We are thrilled to bring Oatly products to Carvel,” said Jim Salerno, chief brand officer at Carvel. “We want to ensure guests enjoy the classic flavors and nostalgia of Carvel while we continue to innovate and expand to new guests.”
