After the Tennessee Titans surprisingly parted ways with head coach Mike Vrabel, the team had an unexpected opening at a key position, with no shortage of viable candidates available to fill the void as the leader on the sideline in Nashville.
Even though big-name head coaches like Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh were available, the Titans decided to take a different approach to finding Vrabel’s successor in Tennessee.
The team has reportedly decided to bring in former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, who has obviously had a lot of success with that team since the arrival of superstar quarterback Joe Burrow and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Along with putting in the work to build the Bengals into a winner and one of the best offenses in the league, Callahan has a lot of experience working under prominent names in the NFL over the years, including John Fox, Gary Kubiak, Jim Caldwell, Jon Gruden, and Zac Taylor, as noted by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

🏈Zac Taylor https://t.co/geI76QYG6B— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 23, 2024
As Schefter pointed out, Callahan is also no stranger to big-name quarterbacks in the game, as he most recently worked with Burrow, but also has experience with talented veterans Derek Carr and Matthew Stafford as well as the legendary Peyton Manning.
Even though this was initially a head-scratching hire for the Titans, with so many successful head coaches available, it may pay off in the years to come if he can prove his worth during his first head coaching gig in the NFL as Tennessee begins its rebuilding process.
