After a relatively short time in the NFL, Robert Griffin III left the game, beginning a new career as an analyst.
He has been very successful in his run with ESPN, providing insight and analysis for fans.
Being a member of the media as a former player has it’s perks but also its downsides.
Griffin still receives much criticism, mostly from fans, for things he did on the field.
However, he has recently found himself in many internet debates with Jay Gruden, his former head coach from Washington.
As Barstool Sports highlights, Gruden tweeted that Griffin wasn’t good enough in the NFL, saying, “Kirk was better.”
“You weren’t good enough. Kirk was better. Cleveland didn’t want you. Baltimore did either. Quit blaming me,” Gruden tweeted.

Kirk is about Kirk Cousins, who took over the quarterback role from Griffin in Washington.
Gruden also indicated that the Baltimore Ravens never wanted Griffin to be their long-term quarterback, like the Cleveland Browns.
These attacks have mainly been unprovoked and have caused quite a stir in social media circles.
It will be interesting to see what fallback comes from this and if Gruden faces any repercussions.
Gruden’s most recent job was as an offensive consultant with the Los Angeles Rams.
He isn’t actively involved in the NFL this season, and if he keeps publically attacking Griffin, he could potentially talk himself out of future job considerations.
There is a level of candor that is generally used between coaches and former players, something Gruden isn’t displaying with these comments.
Griffin is generally well-respected across the league, so fans have pledged their support of him during this controversy.
