Israel has made clear in discussions that its high-intensity military campaign in Gaza will continue throughout January, U.S. officials speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing diplomacy told The Washington Post, despite pressure from the Biden administration for restraint as civilian casualties soar. The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that Israeli authorities are increasingly restricting access for aid missions, with just 24 percent of planned food, medicine and water deliveries successfully reaching northern Gaza so far this year.
