Boston Red Sox longtime designated hitter David Ortiz is one of the most influential players of the last two decades in the franchise.

He won three World Series with the Sox, in 2004, 2007, and 2013.

Most importantly, he was always someone to count on during postseason play.

He retired in 2016.

Now that he has had a few years off the diamond, it looks like rust has finally caught up to him.

During the gender reveal party for his fourth child, Ortiz was supposed to hit a ball that was going to explode with the color of his next child’s gender.

However, the former All-Star whiffed, as improbable as that may sound to you.

Here is the video, courtesy of Jomboy Media via Twitter:

We have seen countless parents whiff during gender reveals, but we didn’t think a former World Series MVP and Hall of Famer would drop the ball.

Still, it happens to the best of us, even Ortiz.

After the hilarious moment, blue confetti appeared on the scene, suggesting that he is going to have a baby boy.

Ortiz and the people present at the party proceeded to celebrate and laugh.

It was all happiness.

Ortiz is one of the most hilarious analysts and former players in MLB.

His sense of humor is contagious, and he is as friendly as they come.

Red Sox fans rate him as one of the franchise legends, in the same tier as some really impressive players.

Even for neutral fans, it was hilarious to watch the video and it was good to see him enjoy time with his family and friends.
