The Dallas Cowboys found a true generational talent when they took Micah Parsons out of Penn State.
Parsons is a hybrid player who can be as efficient as a linebacker or lining up on the edge, and that has often given defensive coordinator Dan Quinn a lot of freedom in his play-calling and designing.
Nonetheless, Parsons has spent most of the snaps as a defensive end, where he’s been more efficient and impactful because of his explosiveness and great nose for getting to the rival quarterback.
But with LB Leighton Vander Esch done for the season, some analysts wondered whether the Cowboys would give Parsons more run at LB, which hasn’t always been the case.
When asked about that, team owner Jerry Jones claimed that they had no intention whatsoever of giving him more snaps at LB, adding that he’s always at his best when he’s a “pressure player” (via 105.3 The Fan and Jon Machota).
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan didn’t have much interest in the idea of Micah Parsons getting more work at linebacker. “His greatest attribute to our team is as a pressure player.”

Truth be told, Parsons has the potential to be a perennial Defensive Player of the Year kind of player, although he has failed to take another leap forward this season as most fans expected.
He’s drawn plenty of criticism for not showing up when it matters the most and against winning teams, but he’s just a young player still learning the ropes of the NFL.
He’s still a special kind of player and someone who’s going to be an impactful defender for years to come, regardless of if that impact comes rushing the quarterback or trying to stop the run.
