Polish news anchor pulled off air as Tusk reforms take effect


This is the moment Polish state TV channel TVP Info was taken off air, as Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s new government takes aim at what it calls politicised media outlets.

Programming on the news channel was interrupted as journalist Adrian Borecki told the audience Polish media had been ‘taken over’.

Parliament in Warsaw backed a resolution on Tuesday night calling for independence, objectivity and pluralism in public TV and radio.

The new culture minister has sacked the heads of TVP, Polish Radio and the Polish Press Agency.

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki accused the new government of violating it’s “supposed care for the rule of law… at every step”.
