The 2023 NFL Season hasn’t been the kindest to the Atlanta Falcons.

After drafting Bijan Robinson in the first round, many expected this team to perform at much higher levels than in years past.

While Robinson joined a talented roster of young skill-position players, one question remained.

Given the unknowns surrounding Taylor Heinicke and Desmond Ridder, fans were unsure of how the team would be at the quarterback position.

Both players have gotten opportunities to start this year with varying degrees of success.

Ridder has been their starter for the past several weeks, but after losing their last two games, the team appears ready to look elsewhere.

Josh Kendall of The Athletic reported that Ridder will be benched for the second time this year, which allows Heinicke to start in Week 16.

While this might be a temporary solution, Kendall believes it might signal more than just a one-week change.

He believes the Falcons might be permanently moving on from Ridder, ending the two-year experiment with the third-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft.

How will the Falcons move forward, knowing they have drafted skill-position players in the first round of the draft for the past three years?

They’ll need to find a quarterback that can sustain a roster with Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.

Whether they try to sign a veteran or go after a first-round rookie remains to be seen.

Something has to change in Atlanta, and it seems like a quarterback change is among the most likely options in the offseason.
