Flames activate Jacob Markstrom off IR, assign Wolf to AHL

The Calgary Flames announced Sunday that goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been removed from the injury reserve list.

In a corresponding move, the Flames sent goaltender Dustin Wolf to their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers.

Markstrom, 33, has been sidelined since sustaining a fractured finger during a practice on Dec. 4. He has posted a 6-8-2 record this season with a 2.94 goals-against average and an .896 save percentage in 16 appearances.

Head coach Ryan Huska said Saturday that Markstrom could be ready to play Monday, when the Flames face the Florida Panthers.

Wolf, 22, was called up to help Dan Vladar fill in during Markstrom’s absence. The rookie goaltender has made four appearances for the club since Dec. 5. Over five games total this season, he’s posted a 3.46 goals-against average and .893 save percentage.

The Flames also assigned defenceman Ilya Solovyov to the Wranglers.
