Analyst Claims Chargers Star Deserves Blame For Brandon Staley Firing

On Thursday Night Football, the Las Vegas Raiders played host to the visiting division-rival Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant Stadium, with something having to give as both teams have struggled this season and were desperately hoping to get a win.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, this wasn’t even a contest, with the Raiders dominating their division rivals from start to finish as rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell was able to lead his team to a franchise-best 63 points on Thursday, with Los Angeles having absolutely no answer on how to stop the offensive onslaught.

With the Chargers losing by more than 40 points to arguably their biggest rival, the team’s brass decided it was finally time to make a change, as the team chose to part ways with head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco.

The bleeding needed to stop in Los Angeles, and the Chargers wouldn’t be given a better opportunity to make a change than after a historically bad loss.

Although Staley has been blamed for the team’s shortcomings for quite some time now, Emmanuel Acho of FOX Sports doesn’t think the head coach deserves all the blame, as superstar quarterback Justin Herbert should also get some criticism for the way things have turned out for the Chargers, via “Speak on FS1’s” YouTube channel.

Herbert, who went down with a season-ending hand injury, getting some of the blame for the team failing to live up to expectations is a fair criticism, but the bulk of the blame definitely goes with Staley, who was supposed to be a defensive guru.

Even though Herbert had his worst season as a professional thus far, Staley was thought to make this defense among the elite in the NFL, but that didn’t turn out to be the case, resulting in a devastating loss that proved to be enough for the team to decide to fire him.
