Many people around the NBA believe the struggling Chicago Bulls will soon hit the blinking red reset button and make at least one of their key players available on the trade market.

A lot of the buzz has centered around Zach LaVine, an exciting two-time All-Star wing, and to a lesser extent, guards Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan.

But another interesting player who could become available is power forward Patrick Williams, and per NBACentral, the Washington Wizards are reportedly interested.

Williams may be a bit undersized at 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds, but he’s a capable defender, and in his previous three pro seasons he has been a very good 3-point shooter.

So far this season, he has struggled in that department, as he has hit only 32.4 percent from that distance, but last season he was at 41.5 percent, and the year before that, he shot an unbelievable 51.7 percent from downtown.

Williams was the No. 4 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after one season at Florida State University, and at age 22, perhaps he still has some upward potential.

Two years ago, the Bulls, after acquiring DeRozan, Caruso, and Lonzo Ball, were looking like potential contenders, but Ball suffered a meniscus injury that he still hasn’t recovered from.

Since then, they’ve been mediocre at best, and it is now clear that they are going nowhere fast as presently constituted.

Perhaps Chicago will be able to collect a bunch of draft picks for the key players it puts on the market so they can take their chances on several young prospects in the years to come.
