The Houston Texans have really impressed many people around the NFL this season, as they hold a 6-5 record and appear to be well ahead of schedule when it comes to rebuilding.

Not only has rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud looked like a star already, but another rookie, wide receiver Tank Dell, has been a stud for Houston so far.

The team suffered a narrow loss last week to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Dell suffered a calf injury that has put his availability for this weekend’s game against the Denver Broncos in question.

Per The Coachspeak Index on Twitter, head coach DeMeco Ryans said he expects Dell to be “okay” moving forward.

In 10 games and eight starts, Dell has put up 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns, and he has had two games with over 140 receiving yards.

He was only a third-round choice in April’s draft, but it’s starting to look like some teams were foolish in passing him up.

He has a productive partner in Nico Collins, a third-year wideout who is at 800 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.

Last season, Houston went 3-13-1, and many expected them to only be marginally better in 2023, but now they have a real shot at making the playoffs.

They’re currently in eighth place in the AFC, and other than this weekend’s contest against the surging Broncos, their remaining schedule looks relatively manageable.

Since they started play in the 2002 season, the Texans have reached the postseason only six times, but it looks like they have the first building blocks to become a power in the years to come.
