The San Francisco 49ers are looking to make another attempt at winning their first Super Bowl championship since the 1994 season, and they have an 8-3 record so far this season.

They own the third-best offense in the NFL, both in terms of points and total yards, and one big factor in that success has been the emergence of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

In his two previous seasons, he has shown consistent improvement, but this year, he may be knocking on the door of elite status with 45 catches for 881 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games.

In doing so, he has joined 49ers Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens as the only players in franchise history to have four straight seasons with at least five receiving touchdowns, per NFL GameDay.

In addition to his basic stats, Aiyuk is averaging 19.6 yards per reception, which is second in the entire league.

He has developed into quarterback Brock Purdy’s favorite target, especially on intermediate-range passes, and he has seemingly stretched San Francisco’s offensive ceiling.

For years, the team has won with defense, and although it continues to be elite on that side of the football, the offense has taken a big step forward since midway last season.

Aiyuk has teamed up with running back Christian McCaffrey, fellow wideout Deebo Samuel, and tight end George Kittle to give the Niners one of the league’s most impressive skill-player cores.

But they will be seriously tested this weekend when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that bludgeoned them in last season’s NFC Championship Game.
