Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns has been one of the NBA’s best superstars for a long time, and he may have a shot at ending up as one of the NBA’s 10 greatest players of all time.

There are a number of NBA players who could be good football players, or at least think they would, and there is some overlap in terms of the basic skill sets involved in both sports.

Durant seems to think he could hold his own as a wide receiver in the NFL, and he said he would put up some monster stats in one game if he ever had the chance to play on the same team as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, per Bleacher Report.

Mahomes has helped make the skill players around him better, and Durant certainly has the speed, size, and agility to be a matchup nightmare for defensive backs.

When he went to the Golden State Warriors in 2016, he gave them the boost they needed after blowing a 3-1 series lead in the NBA Finals to LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers just weeks before.

The Warriors ended up winning the next two world championships with Durant winning the Finals MVP both times, and without him, they likely wouldn’t have won it all both years.

There is a precedent for a basketball player being converted to a football player, as Antonio Gates once went down that path.

He was exclusively a basketball player at Kent State University, where he was an undersized power forward, although he originally wanted to play both basketball and football at Michigan State University.

But the then-San Diego Chargers decided to bring Gates back to the gridiron as an undrafted free agent, and he ended up playing 16 productive seasons in the NFL while making the Pro Bowl eight straight times.
