On the heels of a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason had some strong words for their divisional rivals.
In a highly penalized game in which Evason’s side saw seven penalties, one of which led to a goal against, he questioned the validity of the calls against his squad and accused Avalanche players of diving.

“I don’t get the diving anymore. I don’t get it in today’s game. It’s a different game,” Evason said to The Athletic’s Michael Russo after the game. “Guy gets boxed out and he falls on his backside. One of the biggest, strongest guys, one of the best skaters in the world, falls down twice too.”
Evason appears to specifically call out Makar, who was kept off the scoresheet in Friday’s matchup.
The 25-year-old defenceman has five goals and 29 points in 19 games, second only to Quinn Hughes in defenceman scoring.
Though the Wild received seven penalties totalling 14 PIM, the Avalanche were also assessed six penalties. Both teams scored on the man advantage.
The Avalanche currently sit first in the Central Division with the Wild well behind them in seventh, sitting seven points outside of a wild-card spot.
