Capitals’ Oshie will not travel with team after suffering upper-body injury

Forward T.J. Oshie will not travel on the upcoming’ Washington Capitals‘ road trip after suffering an upper-body injury in Friday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, head coach Spencer Carbery told reporters.

Oshie was shaken up after an open-ice collision with Oilers defenceman Mattias Ekholm at the start of the second period. He remained on the ice for quite a while as he received care from training staff, but was able to skate off with assistance.

Oshie, 36 and in his 16th season in the NHL, has two points in 17 appearances for the Capitals this season. Over 975 games with both the St. Louis Blues and the Capitals, Oshie has 291 goals and 672 points.
