Justin Fields Shares His Expectations For Final Stretch Of The Season

In his third season, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has continued to be a disappointment, and an increasing number of people are starting to realize that he likely isn’t the franchise’s long-term answer under center.

The team is in last place in the NFC North with a 3-7 record, and Fields has completed only 61.7 percent of his pass attempts, thrown for just 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns, and has thrown six interceptions this season.

He has missed Chicago’s last four games with a right thumb injury, but he’s expected to return to the field this Sunday when they visit the 7-2 Detroit Lions.

Per Courtney Cronin, Fields claimed he’s not trying to “prove anything to anybody” and that he just wants to win games while playing for his teammates and coaches for the rest of this season.

At this point, it appears the Bears have virtually nothing to play for, as they have virtually no chance of making the playoffs.

They haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2020 season, the year before Fields arrived, back when Mitchell Trubisky was their man under center.

This past spring, the Bears had an opportunity to nab a true franchise quarterback when they received the No.1 pick in the draft, only to trade it to the Carolina Panthers.

While that trade brought back stud wide receiver D.J. Moore, it is looking more and more like they made a big mistake by dealing that pick, especially when one sees how well C.J. Stroud has been playing for the Houston Texans this year.
