After firing Josh McDaniels, the Las Vegas Raiders played their best game of the 2023 NFL season when they dominated the New York Giants in Week 9.
The Raiders beat the Giants 30-6 and moved to 4-5 on the season, giving themselves some hope that they can make a run toward the playoffs.
Las Vegas got after it right from the opening drive and had a much easier time dealing with New York after Daniel Jones went down due to injury.
Tommy DeVito took over for Jones and found himself getting pressured on nearly every passing down as he tried to lead the Giants back into the game.
It was clear that the silver and black were playing with much more energy and physicality on both sides of the ball, re-establishing their identity.
However, it looks like Josh Jacobs was too physical as he was fined for unnecessary roughness via Jonathan Jones CBS.

In the clip, Jacobs takes a handoff from Aidan O’Connell and runs toward the left of the line of scrimmage.
For a brief moment, he can be seen lowering his helmet and leading with it to initiate contact with the defender which has been a point of emphasis for the league office this season.
It doesn’t look like much contact occurs, but player safety and health have been a hot topic the past few seasons and this is an example of them reinforcing the rules.
Jacobs and the team likely won’t appreciate the fine, but going forward the running back will surely be more careful on plays like these.
