Lightning star Kucherov sits vs. Hurricanes with illness


Tampa Bay Lightning leading scorer Nikita Kucherov will miss Saturday night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes with an illness, the team announced shortly before game time.

Kucherov, the Lightning’s leading scorer, is on a bit of heater this season, sitting second in league scoring with 23 points off 11 goals and 12 assists in 14 games.

Heading into Saturday’s game, Kucherov had a four-game point streak during which he had 12 points (including a four-game, five-goal streak). Kucherov has dominating to a level that he has been in early Hart trophy conversation.

The Lightning are seventh in the Eastern Conference at 6-4-4.
