Cloud hiring activity decreased in the consumer industry in Q2 2023

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 33%, emerged as the top cloud-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 38% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 14% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 38% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent cloud roles include Sales and Related Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 26% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Scotts Miracle-Gro, Arcelik, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Procter & Gamble, and Philip Morris International. Together they accounted for a combined share of 26% of all cloud-related new jobs in the consumer industry.

Scotts Miracle-Gro posted 531 cloud-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Arcelik 110 jobs, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton 97 jobs, Procter & Gamble 93 jobs, and Philip Morris International 85 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 48.52% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023

The largest share of cloud-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 48.52% followed by India (9.70%) and Germany (4.48%). The share represented by the US was three percentage points lower than the 51.91% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
