Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, four quarterbacks were thought to be solid prospects to one day be starters and potential franchise players in the league.
In Week 9, all four players have become starters for their respective teams, with Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts already done for the season due to injury.
No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers was thought to be the most talented and most NFL-ready of the quarterbacks, but that hasn’t turned out to be the case, as he might be the worst of the four at this point after what Will Levis showed after getting the nod for the Tennessee Titans.
The best of the bench appears to be former Ohio State star C.J. Stroud, as he has been incredible for the Houston Texans this season while improving on a weekly basis.
This week, Stroud led the Texans against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what turned out to be a thriller and his best performance yet on the NFL level, as he threw for 470 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions.
After the game, Stroud talked about his historic performance via NFL on CBS.
“I usually, like, try not really look to the accolades and the records, but I put a lot of work in… They picked me at No. 2, and I gotta play like that.”

As Evan Washburn told him, Stroud threw for an NFL record 470 yards for a rookie, which might be the start of great things to come for the rising star, as he’s solidified himself as one of the best young quarterbacks in the league today.
With this win over the Buccaneers, the Texans are now at .500 on the season at 4-4, which moves them into second place in the AFC South division behind Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
