LeBron James was selected as the number-one overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2003 NBA Draft.

Even before entering the NBA, LeBron James was viewed as the savior of the Cavaliers as he was tasked with bringing a championship to the team.

It was James’ raw athleticism that made him undoubtedly the most hyped draft prospect to ever be selected in the league.

While many argue that Victor Wembanyama surpassed James’ hype before the NBA Draft, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham believes the Spurs rookie still has a long way to go via Dave McMenamin on Twitter.

“For the most part, he has a long way to go. He definitely has the potential, but I mean, when you talk about durability, the self-care, the work that’s put in, he has the potential. I’ll say that again, but time will tell,” Ham said.

Victor Wembanyama recently clinched the first win of his NBA career as the San Antonio Spurs registered a four-point victory against the Houston Rockets.

In the first two games of his career, Wembanyama has averaged 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

Despite all the positives about Wembanyama’s beginnings in the NBA, he still isn’t as hyped as James was before his career began in the NBA.

The more astonishing aspect of James’ career is the fact that he’s still going strong even in Year 21.

Wembanyama may one day become the face of the league, but can he ever surpass LeBron James as a player?

Well, fans will get an answer to the million-dollar question after Wembanyama has played in the league for a few years.
