The San Antonio Spurs had a lot of positives in their season debut against the Dallas Mavericks.

It took some Luka Doncic heroics to get the win for the home side, and it felt like the game should’ve never been that close to begin with.

As for Victor Wembanyama’s long-awaited debut, there were some mixed reviews and it was a bit of a roller-coaster, as usually happens with young players.

Wemby struggled with foul trouble, but he also played some good defense below and above the rim, and he got off to a slow start offensively before knocking down some big shots late in the game.

With that in mind, sports analyst Nick Wright believes that Wembanyama should take a page out of Kevin Garnett’s book and try to emulate his offensive approach to the game.

Wright admitted to being skeptical of Wembanyama’s three-point shooting at the NBA level, but he believes he can be efficient as a scorer if he gets the ball at the elbow, mostly because he can pretty much shoot over everybody.

Truth be told, Wembanyama doesn’t even need to be a volume scorer to be impactful offensively.

His playmaking and ball-handling skills are elite for a player his size, and his presence keeps the defense guessing because he’s a threat at all three levels.

There will be some off nights and he could be a little frustrating to some fans, but there will also be nights when he’s going to look like a future Hall of Famer.
