The New York Mets are looking to start fresh when it comes to some of the members in their front office.
After a disappointing 2023 season, it was clear the Mets needed to make some changes.
One of the big moves the Mets made was hiring David Stearns to be their president of baseball operations.
He will take over many of the team-building decisions as the Mets hope to get back to relevancy.
But before the Mets get started with offseason work, they still are making changes to the front office.
According to Jon Heyman, Steve Martone, special assistant to Billy Eppler, has been fired.

The Mets are trying to reshape their front office and let Stearns make all the tough decisions.
He has a history of building a successful baseball team after all his years of success with the Milwaukee Brewers.
It will be interesting to see what his first course of action is as President of Baseball Ops.
The Mets need to upgrade their roster.
One player who has been in a lot of potential trade talks is first baseman Pete Alonso.
He is one of the best power hitters in the sport but the Mets could be ready to move off him.
Many teams would be interested in Alonso’s services if he was available on the trade market.
The Mets seem to be stuck between wanting to rebuild and pushing for a World Series.
Watch the moves they make this offseason as that will directly correlate with what type of team they hope to be in 2024.
