Insider Reveals Giants’ Plans Once Daniel Jones Is Healthy

Quarterback Daniel Jones has missed the last two games with a neck injury, and veteran Tyrod Taylor filled in very well on Sunday, completing 18 of 29 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns as the New York Giants defeated the Washington Commanders, 14-7.

It has led some to say that perhaps Taylor should remain the starter under center over Jones, who has struggled so far this season.

But per the NFL on CBS, insider Jonathan Jones says once Jones is cleared to play, he will be the Giants’ QB1 once again and that there is no quarterback controversy in New York.

In five games this year, Jones has completed 68.9 percent of his pass attempts, but he has thrown only two touchdown passes and six interceptions.

The Giants had given him a four-year, $160 million contract during the offseason, and now more and more people are questioning that decision, especially since the team elected not to extend star running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley is currently playing on a franchise tag, and there is a real chance he will switch teams after the end of this season, especially if the Giants refuse to open their wallets for him.

Jones showed a bit of promise as a rookie in 2019 by throwing 24 touchdown passes in just 13 games and 12 starts, but since then he has failed to match that level of production.

New York currently ranks 29th in total yards and last in points, and if they are to claw their way into playoff contention, Jones will have to greatly increase his production, as will their wide receivers.
