The Buffalo Bills may have a solid 4-2 record, but many don’t seem to be buying them as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

On paper, they do seem to be contenders, as quarterback Josh Allen has put up good numbers while wide receiver Stefon Diggs is third in the NFL in receiving yards and second in receiving touchdowns.

But on a visceral level, something seems to be missing.

FS1’s Nick Wright said on “First Things First” that a blowout win over the New England Patriots this weekend will mean nothing for the Bills, while a loss will confirm that they aren’t all that.

Wright said the only thing that will prove anything positive for them would be “a month of good football” from Allen.

While Allen leads the NFL with a 71.7 percent completion rate and has thrown for 1,576 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 131 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, he had subpar performances in Week 1 and Week 3.

But one argument for the Bills being a contender is the fact that three of their four wins have come in blowout fashion.

Their biggest such argument is their Week 4 thrashing of the Miami Dolphins, 48-20, in which Allen went 21 of 25 and threw four touchdown passes with zero interceptions.

The Bills have been considered contenders for the past few years, but they have nothing to show for it, as they have reached the AFC Championship Game only once.

Perhaps that has contributed to the imagery of them being a bit short of being a true contender this year.
