Report: Blue Jays exec James Click being considered for Red Sox GM


Toronto Blue Jays executive and former Houston Astros general manager James Click is being considered for the Boston Red Sox‘s vacant general manager position, the New York Post‘s Jon Heyman reported Tuesday.

Boston fired chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom on Sept. 14.

Heyman speculated former Miami Marlins general manager Kim Ng, who declined her mutual option and left the organization Monday, could also be a candidate for the Red Sox’s top job.

Minnesota Twins GM Thad Levine is interviewing for the position, Heyman reported Monday.

Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey, Philadelphia Phillies GM Sam Fuld and Los Angeles Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes have all declined to interview for the position, according to The Athletic‘s Chad Jennings.

Former Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Jon Daniels declined an interview request from the Red Sox as well, WEEI.com’s Rob Bradford reported.

Click joined the Blue Jays organization on Feb. 27 as vice president,bBaseball strategy. He previously spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays from 2015 to 2019 before joining the Astros’ front office from 2020 to 2022.

The Red Sox finished the 2023 season with a 78-84 record, finishing last in the AL East division.
