New dad Kuemper ‘rocks the baby’ after Capitals beat Flames

Running on adrenaline and no sleep, new dad Darcy Kuemper broke out a “rock the baby” celebration after backstopping his Washington Capitals to a shootout win over the Calgary Flames Monday.

Kuemper and his wife Sydney welcomed a son late last week.

The 33-year-old Kuemper made 38 saves in the game and three more in the shootout to lead the Capitals to a 3-2 win. He was named the second star of the game.

Speaking to reporters after, Kuemper got emotional when asked how much his son was on his mind.

“You know, his first game, he won’t remember it,” Kuemper said. “But nice to win the first one for him for sure.”
