The San Francisco 49ers have to feel confident they found their quarterback of the future.
He may have been drafted in the seventh round, but Brock Purdy is playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
What makes him special is that he is a perfect fit for the 49ers offense.
Kyle Shanahan does a great job scheming the offense to Purdy’s strengths and this team currently looks unstoppable.
It is rare for the 49ers to be trailing in any game they play.
But when they are, Purdy always seems to have an answer.
According to Josh Dubow, Purdy has had 13 drives when trailing since taking over as starting QB last year.
On those drives, Purdy has scored 10 times.
Since taking over as QB for #49ers, Brock Purdy has had 13 drives when the team was trailing (excluding NFC title game). Here’s what the team has done on those drives:
TD: 7 times
FG: 3 times
Punt: 2 times
INT: once— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) October 14, 2023
Purdy has done a great job at protecting the ball in his career.
That is one area where he differs from former 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
San Francisco has one of the best rosters in the NFL and it’s easy for their offense to move the ball and score points.
Many people are waiting for Purdy to come back to earth but it does not seem like that will happen anytime soon.
It is Super Bowl or bust this year in San Francisco.
All of that pressure will be put on the shoulders of Purdy.
