Even though the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, is far down the road, with Team USA having to figure out its roster before next summer, there’s been a lot of buzz as of late about which players will commit to play for the team.

Over the past few weeks, a few star players in the NBA have let it be known whether they’re considering playing for the team or not, with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid being the first three to officially state their intentions to commit to the team.

However, things got interesting this week with a report coming from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski about Team USA and what the intentions of the coaching staff are in terms of which players they plan to extend an invite to for next summer’s squad.

Apparently, some players who have let it be known that they want to play for the team aren’t players Team USA’s brass intend to send out invitations to, which obviously makes things a bit awkward moving forward via NBA Central.

Along with Durant, Curry and Embiid, LeBron James has expressed an interest to play for Team USA next summer but hasn’t fully committed to the team as of yet.

Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum also wants to play for the team, and Wojnarowski reported earlier today that Jrue Holiday is a target for Steve Kerr and company.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out over the course of the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season and which players ultimately do get invitations to play and which players will not.
