Over the last several years, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been regarded as one of the best in the business, and he has presided over the NBA’s reigning dynasty.

Under his leadership, they have won four world championships over the last nine seasons, and they will be looking for their fifth ring of the Stephen Curry era once training camp starts just days from now.

Kerr has been talking to management about a contract extension, as he is about to begin the final year of his current deal, and he said he’s confident an extension will get done and that he’s not concerned about it, per NBC Sports.

Kerr was hired by Golden State in 2014 after a successful playing career as a 3-point specialist during which he won five NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs.

Back then, the Warriors were a good, young and promising team, but they seemingly had a glass ceiling over them.

Then-head coach Mark Jackson had failed to get the most out of a young Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, but Kerr had the winning combination to unlock their potential.

He took the Warriors’ stagnant offense and remade it into one that relied on ball movement off dribble handoffs and cuts while also making them into a fast-breaking team.

He made the most of Curry’s skills by having him move without the ball after the pass, and the result was a 67-15 record and an NBA championship in his first season there.

In doing so, he influenced the NBA to ditch traditional slowdown offenses and become a league based on up-tempo, spaced-out offenses, and it resulted in a big jump in scoring league-wide in just a few years.

It is said that great players and teams not only win championships but also change the way the game is played, and that’s exactly what Kerr’s Warriors have done.
