When future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down on the New York Jets‘ first offensive series of the season, it meant Zach Wilson would once again have to lead their offense.

Instantly, speculation began that they may bring in another QB, and the candidates discussed ranged from veteran Carson Wentz to the legendary Tom Brady, who retired several months ago.

However, they have apparently elected to not bring in another signal-caller.

When asked if he sees that decision as a vote of confidence in him, Wilson said the bottom line is that he’s the man under center, via SNY.

In two games this year, Wilson has a completion rate of 54.2 percent and has thrown an NFL-high four interceptions against two touchdown passes.

Despite being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft, he has failed to live up to the potential many felt he had coming out of Brigham Young University.

In his final season there, he threw for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns while completing 73.5 percent of his attempts and adding 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Many have now dismissed the Jets as a team that will likely miss the playoffs for their 14th consecutive year, but they do have plenty of talent remaining.

Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook give them arguably the game’s best running back duo, while their defense is very stingy behind reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner and star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

That defense, however, currently ranks 15th in points allowed and 21st in total yards given up.
