The Atlanta Falcons unleashed their brand of smashmouth football in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

Tyler Allgeier punished the Carolina Panthers with 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, fellow running back Bijan Robinson showed his versatility after finishing with 56 rushing yards, 27 receiving yards, and a touchdown.

The Falcons have found their 1-2 punch in the backfield that will simplify the game for quarterback Desmond Ridder.

But great tandems tend to drift away when ego and jealousy creep in.

However, Allgeier attested that Robinson is easy to be with.

Allgeier shared with NBC Sports’ Jim Rome, “It’s just been awesome having him because he’s just electric on and off the field.”

The former Texas Longhorn might be the jolt of energy the Falcons need to make a playoff return after six seasons.

Amidst the devalued running back market, the Falcons shocked the football world by selecting Robinson eighth overall in this year’s draft.

It was a gamble drafting him that early because Atlanta could have addressed other holes on their roster.

But his size, speed, and power make him a dynamic threat as a runner and a pass-catcher.

At least for one game, Robinson proved he’s worth the risk.

More importantly, he is helping the Falcons solidify their identity.

With Robinson in the fold, Falcons offensive coordinator Dave Ragone can incorporate more wrinkles into their playbook to keep defenses guessing.

Meanwhile, Allgeier can plow through opponents with his power running.

Their weekly performances can help NFL general managers put running backs in higher regard.
