The 2023 NFL season is just around the corner and it’s going to start off with a bang as the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football.

The Chiefs are the favorites to win it all again, though nothing is guaranteed as the rigors of a regular season can wear on any contender.

Kansas City has all the pieces in place to make another Super Bowl run, especially when looking at the offense.

Patrick Mahomes is by far and away the league’s best quarterback and he’s got even more weapons at his disposal in the young receiving core the team’s assembled.

However, the primary target remains Travis Kelce who has shown no signs of decline from a production standpoint

Kelce did hyper-extend his knee in practice this week, though, but people like Chad Johnson believe he’ll still suit up against the Lions via his Twitter account.

“He’ll be okay once he gets past the gummy/wobbling stage where the knee feels unstable, takes 24hrs honestly, we will see him Thursday,” Johnson tweeted.

As a former player, Johnson knows a thing or two about playing through injuries but he’s still not a medical professional who can say for certain whether or not Kelce will be ready to go.

Injuries this early in the regular season are never a good sign and it might be in the Chiefs’ best interest to rest their star tight end in order to preserve him for the rest of the year and hopefully the playoffs.
