Team USA is rolling in the FIBA World Cup, with head coach Steve Kerr and his squad winning three straight games and punching their ticket to the next round.
Although there have been some shaky performances, even during the exhibition games, Team USA has stayed the course and come out on top while maintaining their position as the favorite to win it all in the Philippines.
One of the main reasons for Team USA’s success this time around, especially without the regular superstars that play on the team during international competitions, has been the epic rise of Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Edwards has been as advertised as a star, with Kerr quickly becoming a big fan of the Timberwolves star who can seemingly do anything on the basketball floor.
Kerr recently gave Edwards high praise once again for what he’s been able to do for this team during the summer thus far, especially on the defensive end of the basketball floor, via ClutchPoints.
“We feel like we always have the best defensive guards in the tournament, regardless of whether it’s this year or last year or the year before… This guy [Anthony Edwards] is right up there at the top.”

Perhaps the best part of Edwards’ game is that he’s a two-way player and can get it done on both ends of the basketball floor, as he’s one of the few young players in the league today who gives effort on both ends.
As long as Team USA continues to play at a high level with Edwards leading the way, the squad will be well on their way to winning it all, with the face of the Timberwolves being the player that benefits most once back in the United States.
