According to reports Chelsea is interested in signing Lyon attacker Bradley Barcola this summer amid interest from French giants Paris Saint Germain (via RMC Sports).

Bradley Barcola has made a name for himself with his performances for club and country. The 20-year-old has fired seven goals and 10 assists in 31 senior matches across all competitions.

His rich form with the club continued with the French national team in the Under-21 European Championship. Barcola managed to grab 2 goals and 2 assists which helped Les Blues seal a quarter-finals berth.

The French international’s quick feet and eye for goal makes him a terrifying attacker who could create problems for the opposition’s defence. His recent performances have attracted the attention of many clubs who are proactively looking to sign the young star.

Despite a massive summer squad overhaul the Premier League giants are still trying to sign players. Chelsea is closely monitoring the situation as they are keen on plotting a move for the French star. The Blues seem to be frontrunners to grab his signature however things could turn out to be different as Paris Saint Germain has decided to compete with the Blues for his signature.

After signing Marco Asensio, Ousmane Dembele, Lee Kang In and Goncalo Ramos Paris Saint Germain is still looking to sign another attacker in a bid to bolster their attacking department.

Manchester City were earlier showing interest in signing the player however now that interest has slowly faded away as they are monitoring alternate attacking options.

Lyon still has Barcola under contract for another three years, and Les Gones have apparently quoted their Premier League counterparts a fee of €50m (£42.8m) to sanction a sale.

Paris Saint-German have had their first transfer bid rejected as they offered €30m which doesn’t meet Lyon’s expectations. The French club will look to revise their bid as they are keen on agreeing terms with the club.

The race to signing Barcola is fairly open as the player hasn’t agreed personal terms with any clubs nor has he expressed his desire to move to a certain club.

The intense two-horse race for Barcola’s signature is about to heat up as both clubs will look to match Lyon’s expectations. However, things can span out differently with another club entering the race or with the player making the decision to stay at Lyon.

Chelsea’s Premier League campaign wasn’t off to a great start as they managed to grab just a point in their opening game. Despite dominating in possession and carving out the most shots on target Chelsea had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Liverpool. The Blues will look to fire all cylinders and grab a win against West Ham

Meanwhile, Paris Saint Germain have endured a frustrating start to their season as they have failed to register a win in their first two Ligue 1 matches. The French Giants will look to turn things around when they face Lens next weekend.
