The situation for the Philadelphia 76ers has gone from bad to worse, with superstar guard James Harden not only requesting to be traded after opting into the last year of his deal with the team but also publicly blasting Daryl Morey during an event in China recently.

It seems as though the disgruntled guard was reacting to the news over the weekend that the 76ers had stopped trade talks with the Los Angeles Clippers and other interested teams, which obviously directly impacts his immediate future in the NBA.

As if things weren’t challenging enough for the 76ers and their attempts to trade Harden, the veteran shooting guard now much more undesirable to potential trade suitors by making this public statement.

Joel Embiid also made some headlines this week by wiping his social media accounts of any affiliation with the team, which has sparked rumors of his desire to leave Philadelphia, which would be a disaster for the franchise.

Apparently, Embiid tried multiple times throughout the summer to convince Harden to stay with the 76ers but was shot down each time, according to The Athletic via Legion Hoops.

It’s a good sign that Embiid tried to mend the relationship between Harden and the 76ers franchise, but now there’s no telling where this situation goes, especially if the reigning NBA MVP also wants out of Philadelphia.

The future in Philadelphia looks bleak, as this perennial title contender could become a lottery team overnight if Embiid wants to play elsewhere in his attempt to win an NBA title.
