Some people feel the New York Jets have a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl this season.
It’s something no one has been able to say for a long time and perhaps not since the 1968 season when they won their first and only world championship.
They haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, and even when they reached the AFC Championship Game in 2009 and 2010, they weren’t an especially overpowering team.
The Jets now have future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but despite the presence of wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, commentator Nick Wright feels their offense is overrated.

Wilson is certainly a budding star, and he will have Allen Lazard, a former teammate of Rodgers who had 788 yards last season, lining up with him.
However, all of the teams Wright mentioned have more productive No. 2 wideouts than New York does.
While New York was one of the NFL’s best defensive teams last season, ranking fourth in both points and total yards allowed, it was just 29th in points scored.
For them to show major improvements offensively, they will need not only internal improvement, but they will also need Rodgers to bounce back from a 2022 season in which his numbers went down.
At age 39, Rodgers may not be able to regain his old form, but then again, as recently as 2020 and 2021, he won back-to-back regular-season MVP awards.
The rest of the AFC will be very competitive, and it is possible that simply returning to the postseason will be an uphill climb for the Jets.
