The Cincinnati Bengals faced plenty of backlash when they took Ja’Marr Chase with the No. 5 pick instead of using it to protect Joe Burrow.
They already had some solid weapons in the passing game, and pass protection and keeping their quarterback safe was their most evident issue, especially after he had missed half of his rookie campaign with an injury after they failed to protect him.
But it didn’t take long before they proved that they had made the right decision when they took Chase.
Their bond dates all the way back to their days at LSU, and it has become more than evident that they have unmatched chemistry on and off the field.
Recently, Burrow opened up about their relationship, talking to Complex and raving about the importance of having the two best players on any team getting along.

Per Burrow, there’s simply no way a team is going to find success if their stars aren’t close, and that’s obviously not the case in Cincinnati.
Burrow’s contract situation has been a talking point for quite a while now, as he’s expected to reset the quarterback market once he inks his signature on a new deal.
Then again, the word around the league is that he could agree to take a significant pay cut, so the Bengals could keep some of their stars together for the long run, taking a page out of Tom Brady’s book.
But even if that’s not the case, the Bengals will go to great lengths to keep this pair together for years to come, and they might as well go down as one of the greatest QB-WR tandems of all time.
