The opening of free agency is the most unpredictable part of the year for athletes. Foster Moreau knows that better than anyone, and not because of any contract situation — the tight-end was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma during his physical with the New Orleans Saints in late March.
But on Monday, Moreau announced on Twitter that he was in “full remission” from the disease.

The 26-year-old New Orleans native, who played his college ball at LSU, had been looking to come home to Louisiana in free agency after playing the past four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Thankfully, the Saints’ medical staff recognized an oversized lymph node around his left shoulder, which led to his diagnosis — a rare, but very treatable, form of the disease: nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (or NLPHL).
Moreau finished his treatments on May 9. On May 10, he signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the Saints.
He’s since been cleared to participate in football activities, such as the Saints’ May minicamps.
With his return to health, the six-foot-four receiver is primed to enjoy a productive season — after putting up 420 yards and two touchdown receptions on 33 catches last season (all career highs), Moreau is reuniting with his quarterback from Las Vegas, Derek Carr, who came to the Big Easy in free agency as well.
