The New York Jets have high hopes for the upcoming NFL season, as the arrival of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has given them hope for an appearance in the Super Bowl.
It comes in stark contrast to the last several seasons, during which the Jets had virtually no hope of doing anything remotely significant.
In fact, they currently hold the longest active streak of consecutive losing seasons at seven.

The last time New York made the playoffs was in 2010 when they went 11-5 and reached the AFC Championship Game where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Back then, they were coached by the loud and loquacious Rex Ryan, who infamously guaranteed they would win the Super Bowl during the 2011 season after losing in the AFC title game two seasons in a row.
But this is perhaps the first time the Jets have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations since the days of Joe Namath, who led them to their last world championship in the 1968 season.
In addition to Rodgers, they have a solid wide receiver corps, as well as one of the league’s best defenses led by reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner.
That defense ranked fourth in both points and total yards allowed last season and includes All-Pro first-team defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
But the AFC will be extremely competitive, and that includes the AFC East, which has three other teams that believe they’re playoff-caliber.
Still, there is no doubt that expectations are sky-high in the Tri-state area.
