The Chicago White Sox have had a difficult season to date, and it continued on Sunday as they fell to the Seattle Mariners by a final of 5-1.

However, one bright spot in their Father’s Day tilt was the performance of Lance Lynn.

The veteran right-hander and 2011 World Series champion gave the White Sox seven innings as he allowed just three runs on four hits.

And though he took the hard-luck loss, he recorded 16 strikeouts and generated 33 swings and misses, both of which are the most any pitcher has recorded this season.

His strikeout total was also a career-high.

FOX Sports tweeted Lynn’s final line from Sunday’s performance.

The White Sox bats had unfortunately gone quiet.

However, that didn’t take away from what a great game Lynn ultimately pitched.

Lynn’s ERA sits at 6.51 this season after he dropped to 4-8.

However, his strikeouts were the story of the game for the White Sox on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park.

The veteran right-hander has recorded a total of 102 strikeouts over 84.1 innings of work in his 15 starts this season.

The 36-year-old made his Major League debut in 2011 with the St. Louis Cardinals and spent the first six seasons of his career with the team before making brief stops with the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers.

Lynn joined the White Sox after being traded over from the Rangers prior to the 2021 season.

His 2023 season hasn’t been terribly impressive, but his numbers on Sunday certainly were as he kept the White Sox in the game against the Mariners.
