Despite starting off his Major League career with a 12-game hitting streak and hitting for a .274 average in the month of April, top prospect Jordan Walker was sent down to Triple-A by the St. Louis Cardinals.
It was a move that puzzled the fanbase and media members alike, as the popular consensus was that the demotion would go to his head.
Sure enough, that is what happened.
The Cardinals wanted him to change his swing, and it sent him on a spiral down in Memphis.
However, Walker appears to have heated back up.
In a recent interview, Walker made a subtle jab at the Cardinals organization for sending him down while discussing how he ultimately got himself back on track.

Walker said that he ended up going back to what he was doing before and what had helped him produce in the past.
He mentioned how the Cardinals wanted him to hit the ball in the air more frequently, but how that ultimately went to his head and caused him to try and force the ball into the air.
Walker also said that he began doing things that he hadn’t been doing before as a result of a seemingly forced change on behalf of the Cardinals organization, but that now, he is more relaxed.
The 21-year-old then made a subtle and necessary jab at the organization, saying that there was no point in trying to force him to hit the ball in the air if it meant he wasn’t going to be hitting the ball at all.
Clearly, the demotion and forced change went to his head.
But fortunately, Walker has found himself again and is back to his old approach, which has paid dividends.
