Analyst Says Seahawks Are Looking Like ‘Geniuses’ In Russell Wilson Trade

The Seattle Seahawks shocked the world when they agreed to send Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

Some people thought GM John Schneider was making a mistake and even urged them to part ways with HC Pete Carroll instead, but the early returns of the trade were quite encouraging.

Now that all the picks are in, the Seahawks effectively got Drew Lock, Devon Witherspoon, Derick Hall, Noah Fant, Charles Cross, Boye Mafe, Tyreke Smith, Dareke Young, and Shelby Harris — who’s no longer with the team — in return for Russell Wilson and Eyioma Uwazurike.

That’s why Seahawks’ LB K.J. Wright believes Wilson needs to take his game up a notch in 2023.

Otherwise, this trade could go down as one of the greatest heists in NFL history, with Wright citing that Schneider and Carroll are looking like geniuses right now.

The Seahawks also found a franchise QB for the future in Geno Smith, all while the Broncos signed Wilson to a massive contract extension before he even took a single snap with his new team.

Nathaniel Hackett was way over his head in his first season in charge of the Broncos, and the expectation is that the results will be much better with a veteran like Sean Payton calling the shots now.

But the pressure will be on Wilson to deliver early and often, as he has some big shoes to fill and a lot of doubters to silence after playing so poorly despite getting paid so much in his first season at Mile High.
