The Chicago Cubs began the season with super utilityman Christopher Morel in the minor leagues.

However, the Cubs chose to bring him back up to the Major Leagues earlier in the month of May.

Since then, Morel has been swinging a hot bat and has provided a bit of a spark for the slumping Cubs.

On Saturday, Morel hit his seventh home run in a 12-3 loss to the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies.

Interestingly, it was only the 10th game that Morel had played in this season.

On Twitter, MLB posted a clip of the moment he hit his seventh home run at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday.

Morel is certainly off to a hot start this season.

The fact that he already has hit seven home runs in just 10 games is quite telling.

In addition to his seven homers, the 23-year-old owns a spectacular .381 batting average, has knocked in 13 runs, has an on-base percentage of .409, a slugging percentage of .952, and an OPS of 1.361.

He also has an OPS+ of 261.

Chicago is 20-25 to start the season.

Morel certainly has been a key piece for the team thus far in 2023.

The young slugger came to the Majors last season and hit 16 home runs while posting an average of .235.

Morel played in 113 games last year.

With 7 home runs already after just 10 games, Morel may be on pace to shatter that mark as the Cubs look to turn things around and gain a little traction in the NL Central.

Time will tell if Morel will continue to produce at this level.
