The Dallas Cowboys may be starting to look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender after another disappointing season.
They made some significant moves lately, letting go of franchise fixture Ezekiel Elliott while acquiring wide receiver Brandin Cooks and cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
In addition, they nabbed a couple of interesting players in the 2023 NFL Draft, and former NFL quarterback David Carr says he was impressed with what Dallas did.

With the No. 26 pick, the Cowboys took Mazi Smith, a defensive lineman from the University of Michigan.
At 6-foot-3 and nearly 340 pounds, he is quite a physical specimen, as he almost possesses the kind of size that offensive linemen have.
At pick No. 58, they went with tight end Luke Schoonmaker, a teammate of Smith’s who had 418 yards and three touchdowns last season.
DeMarvion Overshown was taken at pick No. 90 by Dallas, and he put up 10 tackles for loss, five passes defended, and 4.0 sacks in 2022 for the University of Texas Longhorns.
But perhaps the most intriguing pick by Jerry Jones’ team was that of Deuce Vaughn, who went to the Cowboys at pick No. 212.
Although he’s listed at just 5-foot-6, he ran for 1,558 yards and nine touchdowns in 2022 while at Kansas State University a year after posting 1,404 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The big question is whether Dallas has done enough to supplant the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending NFC champions.
The Eagles have lost Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders and standout defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, but they will still be difficult to deal with this fall and winter.
