The Chicago Bears made a lot of noise during this NFL offseason after the storied franchise decided to make the bold move to trade the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The move showed that the Bears are ready to build around star quarterback Justin Fields rather than start from scratch again with a rookie quarterback, which is obviously a step in the right direction for a franchise that has struggled to get the position right for quite some time.

In the second round of the draft on Friday night, the Bears made their first selection and went with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter out of the University of Florida, which may be why the team chose to part ways with Gerri Green.

Along with addressing the defensive line, the Bears also addressed the secondary with their next pick with cornerback Tyrique Stevenson out of the University of Miami.

The Bears didn’t stop their goal of upgrading the defense through the draft, as their next pick in the third round was also a defensive addition.

Chicago chose to go with defensive tackle Zacch Pickens out of the University of South Carolina, which obviously is another big body added to the defensive line.

Clearly, the Bears want to be better defensively next season and for many years to come, as the team seems to have faith in Fields leading the offense moving forward.

It’ll be interesting to see what else Chicago does moving forward and if it will continue to be moves to improve the defense.
