Sodiaal CEO Jorge Boucas to join sugar co-op Tereos

Jorge Boucas will join France-based sugar co-op Tereos next month after leaving local dairy group Sodiaal.

Boucas, who spent six years in charge of Sodiaal, is to start his new role as Tereos CEO on 20 April.

Boucas will be the fourth chief executive at Tereos in three years.

Candia brand owner Sodiaal said has put two executives – finance director Marie-Ange Mathieu and Frédéric Chausson, the company’s director of external relations and sustainable development – in charge while it looks for a permanent replacement for Boucas.

In a statement, Boucas said: “It was an honour for me to work alongside committed and value-driven farmers’ cooperatives and to contribute to Sodiaal’s transformation with the quality colleagues who make up the executive committee and all the staff of the cooperative.”

Previous Tereos CEO Ludwig de Mot stood down in September after five months in the job. He succeeded Philippe de Raynal, who left Tereos in February last year after 12 months in charge.

Chairman Gerard Clay has held the role of CEO on an interim basis since de Mot’s departure from the position.

Boucas said: “The Tereos co-operative’s mission and values are major assets in a context in which our industry must face up to the challenges of food, agricultural and environmental transitions.”
