The Los Angeles Lakers cannot catch a break.

Just when they were getting hot and when some thought they were a legit dark-horse candidate out of the Western Conference, LeBron James falls with an injury.

LeBron and injury aren’t two words that come together often, but the 38-year-old isn’t getting any younger, and the news about his right foot is not exactly encouraging.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, there are serious concerns within the Lakers organization about James’ status.

Per Woj, he could miss the remainder of the season with this foot injury, which could all but doom their aspirations.

“The fear is that LeBron James could miss several weeks with this right foot injury that he suffered Sunday against Dallas,” Woj said on ESPN’s Get Up. “More testing, more evaluation, surely as soon as today on LeBron James. But with just weeks left in the season, a Lakers team that’s still trailing tenth place in the West — the final the play-in spot by a game — there is concern that James may be out several weeks.”

Woj added that ESPN projects the Lakers to have the easiest remaining schedule in the regular season, and they’ve done a great job of adding more firepower to their roster.

However, this team is built around James, and they’ve proven that they’re not capable of winning without him on the court.

It’ll be time for Anthony Davis to step up and live up to the expectations once and for all, as he was supposed to be their main guy, with LeBron being the Robin to his Batman, but he failed to take a leap forward and embrace that role.

Davis has left plenty to be desired since that championship in the bubble, and there will be no better time for redemption than now.

But he cannot be trusted to stay healthy either, so things aren’t looking good at all for Darvin Ham’s team without their best player and leader out on the court.
